On Friday, the team went 3 and 0 with wins over Elyria Softball, Ohio Hawks 99, and Ohio Wolfpack. 45 invite only 14U teams participated in the event and the HEAT Elite 99 performed very well. The HEAT Elite 99, went on the road over the weeked of June 13, 14 and 15th in Columbus Ohio to participate in the Laser Nation Invitational. The HEAT Elite 99 were led on offense by Elizabeth Bollinger, Shelby Grimm, Gabby DeZenzo, Hannah Shoupe, and Kelly Carr. She pitched a masterful game and was able to keep them off balance all day. Hannah Shoupe led the HEAT Elite 99 from the circle one again against the NWI Sox. Kudos to them, because they came back and beat the Indy Crush 2000 squad in the championship of the losers bracket to give them the opportunity to play for the 2014 Indiana ASA State Games Title. The NWI Sox 2000 were then pushed to the losers bracket. The offense was led by Emily Lipsett, Shelby Grimm and Abby Herbst by each contributing multiple hits. Kudos goes out to Hannah Shoupe for coming in to the game at the start of the second inning and only giving up one run to the Sox. The HEAT Elite 99 stayed on top the rest of the way and came home with a 8-6 win. The HEAT Elite 99, stayed focused, kept chipping away and in the top of forth inning exploded with a 7 run inning. Unfortunately, for the HEAT Elite 99, the NWI Sox came to play right away in first inning and put the HEAT Elite 99 on their heals by going up 5-0. First up for the HEAT Elite 99 on Sunday were the NWI Sox. The day of the week champions are crowned. Hannah Shoupe and Ashleigh Stopper led the team from the circle while Jessie Buckey, Emily Lipsett, Shelby Grimm, and Gabby DeZenzo produced multiple hits each in the 16-2 victory. The HEAT Elite 99 took control from the beginning. Abby Herbst and Avery Wolfenbarger lead the HEAT Elite 99 from the circle, while Jessie Buckey, Emily Lipsett, Shelby Grimm, Adriana Garcia, and Abby Herbst each contributed multipe hits in the victory. Unfortunately for the Diamond Chix, the HEAT Elite 99 exploded for a 10 run inning in the top of the 4th to cruise home with a 14-3 victory. Through the first 3 innings the game remained close with the HEAT Elite 99 holding a slight 4-3 lead. First up against the HEAT Elite 99 on Saturday were the Diamond Chix out of Indianapolis. Julia Paulse, Elizabeth Bollinger, Abby Herbst, and Jessie Buckey each contributed 2 hits each in the win. On the offensive side of things, Kamani Woodard and Abby Herbst each drove in 3 runs for the HEAT Elite 99. She pitched 4 innings of shutout and one hit ball. Ashleigh Stopper was the girl in charge of the circle and she came to perform. Our next match up was against the Indiana Intensity who had beaten the Indiana Gators in their first pool play game of the tournament. Each had multiple hits against the Crush. Jessie Buckey, Julia Paulsen and Abby Herbst carried the offense.

On Friday, we first matched up against Indy Crush - Hutch. The HEAT Elite 99 came to Westfield on a mission to win the 2014 Indiana ASA State Games and came away with a 6-0 record and a State Championship. Kudos to the city of Westfield in making this happen. This will be the place to play in future Indiana State Events. Parking was good, fields were fantastic and close to the hotels and other hot spots. For any other fastpitch teams out there, this place is as good as advertised.
